Court queue for pickleball open play

Fair, first-come-first-served open play.

OpenPlay Pickleball runs the queue for your open-play session. Players join from their phones, courts are filled in the order people arrived, and everyone can see exactly when they are up, with no clipboard, paddle rack or arguments.

What OpenPlay does

OpenPlay is a web app for people who run or join open play at a pickleball venue. The organiser opens a session; players check in; OpenPlay keeps the queue and the courts.

  • A fair queue

Players join in order and keep their place. When a court frees up, the next group in line is called. Nobody is skipped unless they are away, and the order is visible to all.

  • Join in seconds

Scan the session's QR code or type its 8-digit number. Private sessions ask for a PIN, so only the people you invite can queue.

  • Live court board

See which courts are in play, who is on them, how long a game has run, and your estimated wait. The screen updates by itself as games finish.

  • Calls you can answer

When you are called, you confirm with a countdown. If you are not ready, you can skip and keep moving, and the court is offered to the next group.

  • Partner swaps

Want to play with a friend? Request a swap with someone in the queue; they can accept or decline, and organisers decide how many swaps are allowed.

  • Tools for organisers

Add or pause courts, move people in the queue, start or end a game, and give trusted helpers co-admin rights. Every change is recorded in an activity log.

How it works

  1. The organiser opens a session

Create a session, add the courts, and share the QR code or session number with your group.

  2. Players join the queue

Everyone signs in (with an email and password, or with Google), joins the session and sees their place.

  3. Courts fill in order

OpenPlay calls the next group when a court is free, tracks the game, and returns players to the queue when it ends. You can see your own game history and statistics afterwards.

How OpenPlay uses Google

OpenPlay uses Google services in two limited ways. It never asks players for access to their Gmail, Google Drive, contacts, calendar or any other Google data.

1. Sign in with Google (optional)

Players can choose "Continue with Google" instead of a password. OpenPlay requests only the basic sign-in scopes openid, email and profile. We receive your Google account identifier and email address, and use them only to create your OpenPlay account and recognise you the next time you sign in. You can unlink Google in your profile at any time, or delete your account.

2. Email sent from OpenPlay's own Gmail account ("OpenPlay Mail")

OpenPlay sends a small number of emails: address verification, password resets, and occasional notices from the administrator. These are sent from a single Gmail account that belongs to the OpenPlay operator, using the Gmail API with the send-only scope https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.send. That permission is granted once, by the operator, for the operator's own account. It cannot read, list, search or delete mail, and it is never requested from players.

We do not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, share it with third parties beyond the providers that run the service for us, or use it to train machine-learning models. OpenPlay's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
